Brendan O’Leary

Brendan O’Leary plays a mean Tenor Banjo with Iron broo. Sometimes he also pulls out his smaller instruments…The Mandolin or the resonating mandolin. Brendan’s light fingers adds a fantastic bounce to any piece of music. The combination of Banjo and Mandolin to the ceilidh set adds a magnetic bounce that is impossible to ignore. Sure to draw even the most timid of dancers towards the floor and out of their shells.
Brendan was born in Australia and has made Aberdeen his home for most of his life. He loves traditional folk music and always travels armed with instruments. Always on the look out for a session in the darkest corners of the world.
Tom Roche

Tom Roche, originally from Co. Cork, Ireland but resident in Aberdeenshire since 1999. Has played at several festivals in Scotland and beyond with Irish-Reggae fusion band Paddyrasta, The Jani Lang Band and the Brogues.
Tom is a champion marathon runner and has been known to jump in his car after a gig and drive for hours, then sleeping just in his car for an early morning start so he can bag another medal.
Sandy Mathers

Sandy grew up immersed in fiddle music of the North East and earned a reputation as a great player, composer, multi instrumentalist and dance caller.
Sandy’s compositions have been recorded by artists in many countries around the world. He also plays Blue Harmonica with other local bands, and is gaining a great reputation with a melodeon. Having recently won a traditional music championship on his trusty wee squeeze box.
Stan Coghill
Stan is a well known face in the traditional music session scene around Aberdeen. He can often be found playing in the corner with other musicians until the wee small hours in the morning. He enjoys playing as much as he can. He joins Iron Broo and helps out when he can.
