The Iron Broo Duo gives you the energy, musicianship and dance calling of a traditional ceilidh band in a compact two-piece line-up. Charlie Abel and Fred Wilkinson have spent years playing ceilidhs together, creating a surprisingly full live sound without relying on backing tracks. Ideal and very popular for wedding ceilidhs in Aberdeen & Scotland or any other event.
A full live Sound
Charlie plays accordion with MIDI bass, piano chords and foot percussion, while Fred adds the driving rhythm of the bouzouki. Everything you hear is performed live.
Ideal for smaller venues
The Duo needs less stage space than a larger band while still creating the atmosphere and energy you expect from an Iron Broo ceilidh.
Expert dance calling
You don’t need to know the dances. Charlie calls and explains them as the evening progresses, making it easy for complete beginners and experienced ceilidh dancers to join in.
Flexible for weddings and events
The Duo works particularly well for weddings, parties, corporate events and venues where a compact set-up is useful. A disco can also be added for a complete evening of entertainment.

Recognised in Aberdeen
Charlie Abel and Fred Wilkinson have both been recognised by Aberdeen City Council for their contribution to the city. Charlie became a Burgess of the City of Aberdeen in 2015, with Fred also admitted as a Burgess in 2018.
