Iron Broo Duo

‘Brilliant performance, got the whole crowd dancing. Excellent band!”
Aberdeen University Celtic Society.
Small functions & ceilidh experts.

A Ceilidh Duo with a big sound. The Iron Broo duo consists of two musicians, Charlie Abel on the accordion with midi bass and piano chords, plus percussion via a foot-stomper and Fred Wilkinson on Bouzouki. As a ceilidh duo we are both able to call dances, sing songs and still manage to have you jigging away furiously in no time.
Ideal for those with smaller budgets and for smaller venues. A smaller band can cut down your costs and still deliver a cracking performance. Please listen to the audio samples below.
The great thing about our duo is that it sounds like a band!
We can fit in a smaller venue easily, we still perform the same functionality as the bigger band. You still get the same great service.
There’s a strong melody with the Accordion in front with the bouzouki filling out the rhythm, a percussive bass line with a foot stomper and piano and bass chords accompanying the acoustic bass end of the accordion.
It has a big sound for a two piece and it is all played live. We don’t use backing tracks, it’s 100% played by live musicians. Our very own Iron Broo ceilidh Duo. Charlie Abel and Fred Wilkinson, who have both been recognised by Aberdeen City Council for their efforts. In 2015 Charlie became a “Burgess of the City of Aberdeen” and in 2018 Fred was also welcomed as a Burgess of the city of Aberdeen.
A popular combination is our ceilidh duo with the disco option. Great for weddings or any events where there is a mix of tastes and you need to have your entertainment covered for a longer time.
Please visit our Booking page for a booking. Our availability can be checked on the Iron Broo Calendar where there is a Google Calendar that we try to keep up to date with. We only display confirmed gigs so if you have a special date in mind please get in touch as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.
