Why a Ceilidh Works So Well at a Destination Wedding
A destination wedding often brings together families and friends from different countries who may be meeting for the first time.
A Scottish ceilidh is particularly good at breaking the ice.
Rather than simply watching the entertainment, your guests become part of it. Charlie explains and calls every dance clearly, choosing dances to suit the people on the floor.
No previous ceilidh experience is required.
Scottish guests, international visitors, children and complete beginners can all dance together.
That makes a ceilidh a memorable way of bringing everyone together, wherever in the world your wedding takes place.

International Ceilidh Experience
Taking Ceilidh Music Abroad
Iron Broo have performed internationally at weddings, parties and corporate events in many countries. Overseas bookings have ranged from intimate celebrations to larger weddings where Scottish and international families are coming together. The practical side of an international event matters just as much as the music. We can discuss flights, accommodation, transport, performance timings and whether sound equipment should travel with us or be supplied locally.
Luxembourg — International School Ceilidh
Iron Broo travelled to Luxembourg for a school ceilidh, calling the dances for pupils who were new to Scottish dancing.

Choose the Right Line-up for Your Destination Wedding
One Man Ceilidh Band
For many overseas weddings, Charlie’s One Man Ceilidh Band is the simplest and most economical option.
Live accordion is combined with MIDI bass and rhythm accompaniment to produce a remarkably full ceilidh sound, with complete dance calling included.
With only one musician travelling, flights, accommodation and ground transport are considerably simpler.
Iron Broo Duo
The Duo gives you two live musicians while remaining relatively compact and straightforward to transport.
It is a particularly good choice where couples want a fuller live-band feel without the additional travel costs of a larger line-up.
3–6 Piece Ceilidh Bands
For larger destination weddings we can also provide traditional multi-piece Iron Broo line-ups.
The practicalities depend on the destination, venue and travel arrangements, so we quote these individually.
Sound Equipment Abroad
PA & Equipment for Overseas Weddings
For UK events, Iron Broo normally provide the professional PA and equipment required for the performance.
For weddings abroad, it can often be more practical for a suitable PA system to be supplied by the venue or a local production company.
We can provide the technical requirements in advance and work directly with your venue, wedding planner or sound supplier where required.
Ceremony Music
Scottish Music for Your Wedding Ceremony
Charlie can also provide live accordion music for the ceremony, drinks reception or other parts of your wedding day.
Fiddle, bouzouki or a small acoustic line-up may also be available depending on the musicians travelling.
For something particularly personal, Charlie can even compose a bespoke tune for your wedding.
Ceilidh + DJ/Disco
From Scottish Ceilidh to Party Music
Depending on the destination and arrangements, a DJ/disco option can also be incorporated.
That means you can have a traditional Scottish ceilidh followed by familiar pop, rock and party favourites later in the evening.
For some overseas events it may be more practical to work alongside a locally supplied DJ, and we’re happy to coordinate with them.

A Scottish-Sicilian Wedding in Sicily
In 2013 Charlie travelled to Trapani, Sicily to provide a One Man Ceilidh Band for a Scottish-Sicilian wedding.
Guests from very different backgrounds were able to take part because the dances were explained and called throughout the ceilidh.

Destination Wedding FAQ
Can you travel anywhere in Europe?
Yes. Each enquiry is considered individually depending on flights, travel time, equipment requirements and availability.
Do our guests need to know Scottish dances?
No. Every dance is explained and called clearly before the music begins.
Which line-up works best for a destination wedding?
The One Man Ceilidh Band and Iron Broo Duo are particularly practical because fewer musicians need to travel. Larger bands are also possible.
Do you bring a PA system?
That depends on the destination. For many overseas bookings it is simpler for suitable equipment to be supplied locally.
Can you play for our wedding ceremony as well?
Yes. Ceremony and drinks-reception music can often be incorporated into the booking.
Can you work with our wedding planner or venue?
Absolutely. We can liaise directly with your planner, venue or local production company about timings and technical requirements.
How much does an overseas ceilidh cost?
Every destination booking is quoted individually because flights, accommodation, ground transport, performance time and line-up all affect the cost.
